seesafari A day like any other starts like any other, looping over and over, sleep deprived, constantly on edge, missing friends and family, the zeitgeist of this era , SB continues to amaze me, While i lay in bed and the sun slowly creeps into the room...

Chenaar The Taxonomy of Grief takes you to your highest and lowest. An absolutely beautiful creation that guides you to experience a flow of paradoxical emotions at the same time.
The wisely chosen Track titles and Artwork help even more to enjoy the brilliant journey. Favorite track: God's Hand Touched Him and He Slept.

knightd68 This record is a twisted, dark, bleak joy. A mammoth voyage, with the title track alone being a journey in itself. Choosing my favourite piece was a bit like Bandcamp Bingo, but I've opted for Deep Blue Sorrow. Don't be completely fooled though... there's hope in these dark works. Genuine hope. I'm a massive SB fan anyway, but this a masterpiece. 10/10. Favorite track: Deep Blue Sorrow.

A Taxonomy of Grief is paradoxical, dark ambient, atmospheric experience like no other. It both soothes and unnerves, strides forward and timelessly stands still. Both the depths to which it can take you and the surfaces it allows you traverse in equal measure, and at times in unified moments, is incredible. Experiencing this album is believing. Favorite track: Do Not Answer the Telephone.

about

Dungeon in Deep Space Dark Ambient Album of the Year 2021

“A Taxonomy of Grief” is the final album of the Sumatran Black Necrotrilogy.

Artistic risks are quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things but still it's unfortunately part of human nature that we often tend to dwell on the fear of failure, when we should instead be confident that the audience is rooting for us and ready to cheer us on as we venture as artists (and listener together) into uncharted and potentially, perilous musical territory.

And while the dangers that lie ahead here are not physical in nature but emotional, they can on occasion be a force to be reckoned with. So whatever happens along the way, thanks for coming on this journey with me. I hope any sadness that you carry is fleeting.

The running time is over two hours so if you prefer to listen to the album in parts, here is my recommendation.

Part 1: Tracks 1-5
Part 2: Tracks 6-9
Part 3: Tracks 10-13

Dedicated to Howard Gordon Reeves.
